About Me

I’ve had amazing opportunities to advise senior federal and state ministers in Australia (and the UK). But it was leading a five-year campaign to defeat legislation that would’ve eroded the rights of Australia’s most vulnerable, including refugees that led to me being offered an opportunity at a Senate seat. My move to London meant that I was unable to take the offer up.

In London I led on high level policy advice and consultation at Ministry of Justice. From there I joined a small and unique social policy unit in HM Treasury.

Under the then Chancellor, Gordon Brown, I had invaluable opportunities to influence policy, research and advise him on the establishment of the Russell Commission and subsequent record funding in the UK of £155 million.

With more than two decades of experience spanning politics, policy, public affairs, communications and writing, I’ve discovered that working for social impact, protecting the rights and interests of consumers and, in particular, the most vulnerable, remains my strong preference.

I’ve worked with the FCA RegTech team on their financial services and vulnerable consumers work programme, to LocalX a start-up tackling social isolation through community building.

Thanks to many years of professional writing for CEOs, senior officials, permanent secretaries and companies such as DfID, WHO, Gates Foundation, the World Bank – I have excellent drafting and writing skills for all forms including submissions, content, ghostwriting, research/policy reports amongst others.

My passion lies in coaching, mentoring and teaching aspiring writers to write that book they’ve been longing to write. I’ve developed a tried and tested 10-minute method to help aspiring writers write the books they thought they didn’t have the time to write. book they’ve been longing to write, but haven’t had the time.

I run workshops, online courses and offer information and advice on writing via my free Writing Tribes. You can join us there at https://www.facebook.com/groups/NicolesWritingTribe (fiction and non-fiction writing) and https://www.facebook.com/groups/NonFictionWritingTribe (non-fiction writing).
